New Temperature Records Registered in Armenia in April
April 2024 has become the warmest and driest since 1935. This was reported by the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center. The average monthly temperature in Armenia was recorded at 9.4°C, exceeding the monthly norm (4.9°C) by 4.5°C. Temperature deviations were particularly high in the second half of the month, when daily average temperatures in many regions exceeded the norm by 6-8°C.
New temperature records were set during the periods of April 17-20 and 28-30, with daily maximum temperatures in Yerevan and the Ararat plain reaching 30-32°C. The warmest April was accompanied by low precipitation levels. The average monthly precipitation in Armenia was recorded at 23.4mm, which is only 33% of the norm. Such low precipitation levels have not been observed in April since 1935. The third decade of April was particularly dry, with most regions of the Republic experiencing little to no precipitation or a total of up to 5mm.
