VIDEO: Prison, Death, Dispossession - Ruling Party MP Threatens Opposition
During a session in the National Assembly of Armenia, Khachatur Sukiasyan, an MP from the "Civil Contract" faction, made threatening remarks towards opposition MPs. He addressed the activities of the "Tavush for the Homeland" movement and reminded the public of certain episodes from 20 years ago.
"Armenia wants to strengthen itself and reinforce its borders, but Armenian MPs, political parties, and citizens are hindering this effort. I don’t know if many are doing this intentionally or do not understand what they are dealing with and what a bad name they will have in history. If we go back years, we will recall who led Armenia and how they governed, and we will also remember how they treated those who named other countries—those individuals either ended up in prison, died, or were dispossessed. If you do not recognize your limits and hinder Armenia's development, we will speak to you with the same tools that you applied for 20 years, and we will use them against you," said Sukiasyan.
According to Sukiasyan, based on their information, his colleagues (the opposition MPs) and many citizens of Armenia serve other states—some on a contractual basis, while others are unaware.
In Sukiasyan’s view, the opposition is obstructing Armenia from becoming a strong state.
