Video: Clash Between Local Citizens and Foreigners in Bishkek Turns into Unrest

Unrest has broken out in Bishkek due to a brawl between local citizens and foreigners, with a criminal case initiated under the "Hooliganism" article, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Saturday.

The conflict between Kyrgyz citizens and foreigners occurred on the night of May 14 when more than ten people started a fight in one of Bishkek's hostels. On the night of May 18, over a hundred people gathered near the hostel to take revenge for those who had been previously assaulted. By morning, the number of gathered individuals had reached a thousand.

Angry citizens blocked the highway near the hostel where the foreigners were staying, prompting the dispatch of police forces to maintain order. The police press service reported that three foreign nationals who instigated the brawl have been detained. A criminal case has been opened under the "Hooliganism" article.

The situation in Bishkek is currently stable, with patrols organized and traffic restored.
