The final phase of the championship, held for the third time, featured the best teams from schools across the country that had been recognized as winners in regional and community stages. A total of 11 teams participated in the championship, with each team consisting of 7 students (5 boys and 2 girls), who raced a distance of 5000 meters. More than 2400 students from 362 educational institutions in Armenia took part in the regional stages of the championship. Last year, 1984 students from 251 schools participated in the championship.
The teams that took the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the finals, as well as their members, were awarded relevant certificates from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, along with trophies, medals, and cash prizes. Specifically, the team that took first place received 4 million AMD, second place received 2 million 500 thousand AMD, and third place received 1 million 500 thousand AMD. The physical education teacher of the first-place team was awarded 700 thousand AMD, and each of the seven students from the team received 150 thousand AMD. For the second and third places, the corresponding awards were 500 thousand AMD for the teacher and 100 thousand AMD for the students, and 300 thousand AMD for the teacher and 75 thousand AMD for the students, respectively.
Prime Minister Pashinyan presented the awards to the team from Syunik that won first place, while Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan presented awards to the team from Shirak that secured second place. The team from Vayots Dzor, which took third place, received their awards from Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giluoyan.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated those present on the occasion of what has become a recurring celebration and emphasized the importance of these championships, as they provide an opportunity to view things from a different perspective. According to Pashinyan, the 'Prime Minister's Cup' championships in running and table tennis highlight the team-oriented mindset. He stated, 'In our reality, it is often said that we are not team players, we do not have a team-oriented mindset, and these championships are also organized to counter that notion, because here we see wonderful teams, excellent cohesion, and great work.'
Pashinyan thanked the teachers for their efforts and noted that these championships also pay homage to the work of teachers. Highlighting the role of physical education, the Prime Minister mentioned the recent opening of a weightlifting school named after Simon Martirosyan in Jrarat, and upcoming openings of schools named after Arthur Aleksanyan, Malhas and Roman Amoyan. 'This is part of our education strategy because physical education is an integral part of education,' the Prime Minister added.
