Statement Released by Party After Assassination Attempt on Slovak Prime Minister

The coming hours will be decisive for Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico. This statement was issued by Fico's party, Smer.

“Everything will be determined in the upcoming hours,” the statement reads.

It was also reported on the Prime Minister’s social media page that Robert Fico's life is in danger. It has been noted that the Prime Minister is being transferred by helicopter to the hospital in Banská Bystrica, as the road to Bratislava would take too long.

Previously, it was reported that an assassination attempt was made on Fico after a government off-site meeting in the town of Gandlová, located 190 kilometers from Bratislava. Shots were fired as the politician approached the crowd.
