Russian and Ukrainian Citizens Arrested in Bali, Facing Death Penalty
In Bali, a Russian citizen and two Ukrainians have been arrested for drug production and distribution, facing the possibility of the death penalty.
According to local police, multiple drug dealers, including nationals from Ukraine, Russia, and Indonesia, were apprehended in early May. All of them allegedly worked for a local drug lord.
Investigators stated that the Ukrainians were responsible for drug production, the Russian citizen handled distribution, while the Indonesian acted as a broker and owner of the drug lord's account.
The suspects had established their drug laboratory in a villa in Canggu in September 2023. During the raids, equipment for drug production and all necessary chemical substances were discovered. The house was equipped with a special “bunker room” designed for proper ventilation and soundproofing.
Additionally, the raid uncovered 10 kilograms of marijuana, 6 kilograms of methamphetamine, and half a kilogram of mephedrone, along with hashish and cocaine.
The suspects admitted to learning how to prepare drugs from the internet and ordered everything necessary for their production from China and Romania. They distributed drugs through Telegram and the darknet.
Several criminal cases have been initiated against the suspects, who now face potential long-term imprisonment or the death penalty.
