Police Ministry Addresses Reports of Thousands of Police Forces Gathering

The Police Ministry has issued a statement.

“The Police Ministry is consistently carrying out and continues to implement measures aimed at ensuring public order and safety. Information has been spread on the internet regarding ‘thousands of police forces gathering’ in the capital. As previously reported, based on a request received from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, in connection with the event organized within the framework of the EBRD international forum at the Al. Spendiarian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, traffic and pedestrian movement will be restricted on the streets adjacent to the theatre from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on May 15 to ensure public order and safety.

The event has gathered about 3,000 participants from 74 countries, including high-ranking official delegations and representatives from international and private sector organizations. Due to the scale of such an event, the Police Ministry is continuously implementing measures aimed at ensuring public order and safety, which is the immediate responsibility of the Police. Therefore, there is no extraordinary situation, as some media outlets are attempting to present.

We once again ask for the public's understanding regarding any inconveniences caused and request that citizens avoid the specified areas of the capital during those hours,” the statement reads.
