This is a Fading Movement, and We Have Seen Many Such Movements in Recent Years: Pambukhchyan
“The lack of substance is embedded in the demand for resignation. I have already mentioned that we have seen many such gatherings in recent years that have gone towards fading away. When the participants from Tavush reached Yerevan, the content of the movement changed and turned into a demand for resignation. The public's reaction was such that after the first rally, people began to stop attending the rallies,” said the Deputy Mayor.
Previously, Pambukhchyan also spoke about the movement from the podium of the council meeting. “I understand that, against the backdrop of the failures of opposition politician Vazgen Galstanyan—because there was also another platform at Republic Square—our opposition is struggling to convey its messages. Their partner faction attempted to stage everything here and express what they have been saying for the past four to five years,” he noted.
According to Armen Pambukhchyan, people join the struggle when they understand the essence of the problem, what the fight is about, and believe in the leadership of the struggle, starting from the people standing on the platform. “But you are subjecting citizens of the Republic of Armenia to ethnic cleansing from the platform, and the day is not far when you will attempt to say that in order to be Armenian, you need to bring a certificate from Hayk Nahapet and submit a 26th form proving your descent from Hayk Nahapet. This is a classic manifestation of ethnic cleansing, and it has been expressed from your platform,” emphasized the Deputy Mayor.
It should be noted that today during the city council meeting, the “Mother Armenia” initiative carried out an action with placards in support of the “Tavush for the Homeland” movement. “Mother Armenia” calls on both the ruling and opposition members of city councils in Yerevan, as well as in all cities and villages of Armenia, to clearly express their position regarding what is happening in Tavush and, in general, around Armenia.
