Photos: Protest Participant Detained on Suspicion of Engaging in Hooliganism in Central Yerevan
A report has been received regarding a protest organized by the initiative "Tavush for the Homeland" and its supporters, during which a participant was suspected of engaging in acts of hooliganism on May 13 in the Center administrative district of Yerevan. The protest involved blocking the road with benches.
Specifically, during the event, one of the participants demonstrated disrespect towards individuals present in the area and displayed a blatant disregard for legal and moral norms. This individual reportedly shouted insults and obscene expressions at one of the citizens, linked to the latter's stance on reopening the blocked road, and struck that person in the face with an open hand.
Following the incident, a criminal case has been initiated by the Second Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under Article 297, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. Based on the evidence of direct suspicion in committing the aforementioned act, the protest participant has been detained.
A preliminary investigation is underway to comprehensively uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
