Macron Announces Upcoming Weapon Supplies to Ukraine

France will deliver a series of arms supplies to Kyiv in the coming days and weeks, as announced by French President Emmanuel Macron during a phone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky.

“The President of the Republic reaffirmed France's determination to provide necessary assistance to Ukraine in the long term, alongside its partners, to achieve Russia's defeat. He also detailed the military supplies to be provided to support Ukraine, which will be implemented in the coming days and weeks,” said a statement published on the Elysee Palace's website.

Macron also emphasized the interest in an “Olympic ceasefire” to undertake all useful diplomatic initiatives to begin negotiations within the framework of international law and the legitimate interests of Ukraine.

Earlier, Macron had stated that the European Union would strengthen its support for Ukraine in the coming weeks.

Russia believes that the supply of arms to Ukraine hampers the resolution process and directly involves NATO countries in the conflict, describing it as “playing with fire.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. He stated that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, not only through arms supplies but also through training personnel on the territory of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin has stated that the West's supply of weapons to Ukraine does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative impact.
