Egypt Must Reopen Rafah Crossing, Says Israeli Foreign Ministry

The head of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Israel Katz, has stated that Egypt must reopen the Rafah crossing and expand the delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, according to Reuters.

Cairo, for its part, condemned Tel Aviv for attempting to shift the blame for the blockade of aid supplies. Katz told reporters, "The key to preventing a humanitarian crisis in Gaza is currently in the hands of our Egyptian friends."

"The Palestinian Hamas group will not control the Rafah crossing," Katz said, underscoring that Israel will not make concessions for security reasons. The Rafah crossing is located on the southern border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip and is a vital route for delivering aid to the coastal territory.
