Azerbaijani President Aliyev Calls for Dissolution of OSCE Minsk Group

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has announced that it is time to dissolve the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group, which had been engaged in mediating the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"The Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict has become history; it no longer exists, so it is time to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group and its associated institutions," Aliyev stated during a meeting with OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Maltese Foreign Minister Ian Borg.

The Azerbaijani president emphasized that neither the OSCE nor the mechanisms of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship have achieved anything in resolving the consequences of the conflict, the "liberation of Azerbaijani territories," and the return of the "displaced persons." He noted that negotiations are currently taking place between Yerevan and Baku to advance a peace agenda.
