VIDEO. What Work Has Been Done in the Area Adjacent to Lake Yerevan
In 2024, it is planned to expand the urban forests by an additional 10 hectares. During the spring activities, 45,000 shrubs, around 1,000 valuable and mature trees, and another 1,000 trees in forest zones have already been planted. The tree plantings are carried out exclusively in irrigated areas. This year, the lawns and flowerbeds of Yerevan will be adorned with around half a million flowers and ornamental shrubs.
As part of the project, a new irrigation system has been implemented, and a dendroproject has been developed for rocky areas, incorporating interesting elements of landscape architecture.
The Yerevan reservoir was built back in 1970 on the Hrazdan River. It addresses not only the issue of providing irrigation water resources but also, taking into account Yerevan's dry climatic conditions, mitigates the city's microclimate in the summer.
The area adjacent to Lake Yerevan, transformed into a recreational zone, will also feature new greenery solutions. Approximately 130 mature trees and more than 2,000 shrubs and plants will be planted as part of the organized tree planting.
