Video: Bagrat Surbazan Leaves Main Work to Enter Politics, Says Ghalumyan

Bagrat Surbazan has left his main work to pursue a career in politics, but in my opinion, he has made an unsuccessful start. This was stated today, on May 13, by Vahe Ghalumyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' party faction, during a press briefing at the National Assembly.

'I have even had coffee and shared a meal with Bagrat Surbazan, we had quite a close relationship, but recently our relations have cooled,' Ghalumyan added in response to a question about whether he is ready to accept Surbazan's invitation to have coffee together.

Commenting on circulating rumors that Ishkhan Zakaryan did not refuse Bagrat Surbazan's offer to join the impeachment petition signature gathering, Ghalumyan stated that while he has not declined, neither has he accepted.

In Ghalumyan's view, Ishkhan Zakaryan should make a decision and publicly announce it. 'There is no impeachment agenda; the lack of participants at the rallies speaks directly to this. I see that the movement is fading. People came to learn something about demarcation and delimitation, but those terms weren't even mentioned on the platform. The emphasis wasn't on that; it was merely a pretext to express distrust towards the authorities, which is not an agenda question for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia,' Ghalumyan said, responding to whether he would join the impeachment process.

Addressing the suspension of demarcation and delimitation work in Kiran, Ghalumyan noted that the work had been temporarily paused to compare the land ownership certificates presented by residents with the established checkpoints. 'I do not agree that the process is illegal; you can address such questions to the head of the demarcation commission,' Ghalumyan stated in response to a journalist's question about which approved map is being used for the process, adding that if there is no approved map, then the process would indeed be illegal.
