Number of Detained Individuals Reaches 151 by 11 AM
Over 150 citizens have been detained by the police during the protests and awareness actions in Yerevan as of 11:00 AM. This was reported by the police. A total of 151 citizens have been taken to various police departments under Article 182 of the Republic of Armenia's Administrative Violations Code (failure to comply with a lawful order of a police officer), according to the police.
It is worth noting that since this morning, streets in Yerevan have been blocked on the initiative of Bagrat the Bishop of Tavush. Starting from 8:00 AM, approximately 20 streets have been closed in the capital. By 10:30 AM, 134 individuals had been detained by the police.
Footage released by media shows how police are forcefully detaining numerous citizens, at times even taking them to the ground. During these actions, one operator's camera was damaged, and a reporter from 24news.am lost consciousness during the scuffle.
The Bishop called during a recent rally for total strikes and protests starting from 8 AM, urging the public to 'paralyze the entire city and various regions of Armenia, expressing dissent against falsehoods and evil.'
