VIDEO: Shelling in Belgorod Leaves Victims and Injuries After Building Entrance Collapse
Rescuers in Belgorod have retrieved the seventh victim from the rubble of a collapsed building entrance, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on Sunday.
Earlier, the press service of the Ministry had reported six fatalities. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the head of the Belgorod region, stated that the bodies of seven residents, including four women and three men, had been recovered.
“The list of the deceased will be published only after the completion of rescue operations, which will continue until they are fully finished,” he wrote on Sunday. He also mentioned that self-defense forces are stationed near the building entrances. Volunteers are providing hot meals and drinks. All residents have been relocated; some have gone to relatives, while others are in temporary shelter centers in safe areas.
Doctors and psychologists are working on-site. According to Gladkov, the collapse of part of the residential building on Shchorsa Street in Belgorod has resulted in 20 injuries, including two children.
Today, Belgorod was subjected to massive shelling from the Ukrainian side, during which the entire entrance of a ten-story residential building on Shchorsa Street collapsed due to a direct hit.
In connection with the terrorist incident, the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case.
