US State Department Approves Sale of HIMARS to Ukraine

The US Department of State has approved the urgent sale of three HIMARS units to Ukraine. The deal, worth approximately $30 million, will be financed by the German government.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken described the situation on the battlefield as "extraordinary and urgent, requiring the immediate provision of necessary weapons to Ukraine." The systems will be supplied from US Army stocks.

Previously, the US had officially confirmed a new military aid package of $400 million for Ukraine, which will include Patriot and Stinger missile defense systems, Bradley and MRAP armored vehicles, Javelin systems, and other armaments. This was reported by the White House.

Politico noted that the package would include weapons already available in US stockpiles, including new missiles for Patriot air defense systems, Stinger missiles, Bradley fighting vehicles, and other arms.
