Russia Has Launched a Special Operation to Defend Against NATO Threats: Peskov
Russia has initiated a special military operation aimed at protecting itself and future generations, as well as ensuring the continent's security against threats from NATO and Ukraine, stated Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“Two years ago, we launched a special military operation to achieve our objectives, to protect ourselves and future generations. To ensure the security of this continent in the face of existing threats emanating from Ukraine, NATO, and others,” Peskov told a Sky News correspondent.
Russia began its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. President Vladimir Putin described its purpose as the “protection of people who have been subjected to violence and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.” He emphasized that the special operation was a necessary measure, as “Russia had no other chance; the security risks had become such that it was impossible to respond in any other way.”
