Preparations Underway: Schools Ordered to Prevent Student Participation in Protests

The newspaper "Pāst" reports that the movement "Tavush for the Fatherland," which is gaining a national character, has seriously alarmed the authorities. According to our sources within the government, officials are currently engaged in serious calculations around the potential developments of the movement, particularly regarding the number of participants expected on the evening of May 8 and the following day, as well as how effective the "snowball effect" could be.

Moreover, they clearly understand that at any moment, pivotal events could occur in the streets, which may lead to the loss of their power. Hence, they are trying to mobilize all possible methods and administrative resources to prevent such developments.

Our sources indicate that, among various preparatory measures, the Ministry of Education and Science has sent a circular to all school directors, instructing them to take all possible steps to prevent students from participating in the upcoming protests. This directive is to be followed regardless of whether classes are ongoing, after school hours, or during weekends.

Additionally, it has come to our attention that certain school directors in Yerevan are verifying the attendance of senior students to exercise full control over who is present, who is absent, and for what reasons. Notably, teachers with opposition views are also under close scrutiny, and school directors have been urged to hold private conversations with them to persuade them to stay away from and refrain from participating in the anticipated events in Yerevan.
