New Details on Brawl, Assault, and Gunfire Near American University

The Armenian Police's Criminal Investigation Department, in cooperation with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Yerevan police and the Arabkir police division, has carried out extensive operational-investigative measures and received operational information identifying those involved in the brawl and gunfire that took place near the American University on May 3.

According to the report from Shamshyan.com, the operational information indicates that two students from the university, 22-year-old Ruben Surenyan and 22-year-old Hovhannes Frnjyan, engaged in a dispute for unspecified reasons. Subsequently, around 13:20 on May 3, Ruben Surenyan and his friends—23-year-old Eduard Mikaelyan, 21-year-old Hayk Avagyan, and 47-year-old Arthur Surenyan—arrived near the American University. There, they began to physically assault Hovhannes Frnjyan and his friends.

During the altercation, Arthur Surenyan fired a shot from a firearm he was carrying. The police are taking necessary measures to ascertain the identities of the mentioned individuals and any unidentified persons involved, as well as recovering the weapon used in the crime.

As previously reported by Shamshyan.com, a brawl, physical assault, and gunfire occurred in Yerevan on May 3. At around 13:25, the operational management center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a call reporting a dispute taking place at 40 Baghramyan Avenue, near the American University of Armenia. A few minutes later, a similar report was received from the head of the university's security, who indicated that a gunshot had been fired, resulting in one person being transported to the hospital.
