Armenian-Azerbaijani Relations at NATO Headquarters

On May 7, a meeting took place at NATO headquarters in Brussels between Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, and the Committee of NATO Permanent Representatives’ Deputy. This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his speech, the deputy minister noted that Armenia's joining the NATO Partnership for Peace program almost thirty years ago served as a crucial foundation for the development of further cooperation between Armenia and NATO. Vahan Kostanyan emphasized that Armenia is willing to deepen result-oriented cooperation both with the Alliance and with its individual member states, aimed at enhancing Armenia’s defense and security capabilities, as well as its resilience.

The participation of Armenia in international peacekeeping missions, including the KFOR mission in Kosovo under NATO leadership, was also highlighted. Deputy Minister Kostanyan presented the security situation and challenges in the South Caucasus to NATO partners, as well as the process of resolving relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the developments in the delimitation process based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. The normalization of relations with Turkey, an Alliance member, was also addressed.

In the context of developing regional economic connectivity, Vahan Kostanyan also presented the “Peace Crossroad” project developed by the Armenian government and the opportunities it offers. Discussions were held regarding international security issues of mutual interest.
