Agricultural University Faces Financial Obligation of 340 Million Drams

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the Armenian National Agrarian University is facing a serious financial issue. The university, which has had only a few applicants in recent years, is experiencing a deteriorating financial situation.

Acting Rector H. Zakoyan recently learned that the university has accumulated more than 340 million drams in property tax debt. It has been clarified that only a portion of this debt pertains to the period during his leadership, while a significant part has accumulated since 2021, when Vardan Urutyan was the rector.

The university owns property in Yerevan, Kotayk, Aragatsotn, Syunik, Lori, and Armavir. According to our information, this substantial debt has not been reflected in the budget estimates and performance reports approved by the Board of Trustees for the years 2021-2024. Now, the relevant authorities need to clarify whether the non-fulfillment of tax obligations and their exclusion from financial documents during Urutyan’s and Zakoyan’s tenure (the latter has been serving as pro-rector for economic issues since 2018 and later for educational issues) was a personal initiative or conducted with the knowledge of the Board of Trustees.
