France Denies Sending Foreign Legion Troops to Ukraine

France has not sent troops to Ukraine. This was announced on May 6 on the official page of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the X social network.

“The disinformation campaigns regarding France's support for Ukraine continue. No, France has not sent troops to Ukraine,” the statement from the ministry reads.

The Ministry also published examples of articles that claim France is sending troops to Ukraine, all of which were crossed out in red.

The Foreign Legion (Légion étrangère) is a unit of the French Army that accepts foreign men aged between 17 and 40. After the completion of their service, they may obtain residency permits and then French citizenship.
