43 Million Dram Allocated for New Black Uniforms for 1500 Police Officers
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports, "The Republic of Armenia is gradually turning into a police state, where the Minister of Internal Affairs gains more weight than the Ministers of Foreign Affairs or Defense. Enormous funds are being allocated from the state budget to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, particularly to the police, which offers the highest salaries, drives the best cars, and wears the most expensive uniforms, as this institution has become almost the only support of an authority losing its legitimacy and the primary ally of its political course.
Now it has come to light that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is purchasing new uniforms for police officers. A budget of 43 million dram has been allocated for the purchase of new black uniforms for 1500 police officers. The masked officers of the police, who carry out special operations, wear black uniforms. Along with the new uniforms, new tactical boots and shoes have also been purchased, with each set costing 29 thousand dram. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has also allotted another 30 million dram for the purchase of 4,500 pairs of new black trousers, which are likely intended for patrol officers."
