VIDEO: Why Are Cameras Being Removed in Kiran

Julya

Investigative actions are being carried out in connection with the events that took place on April 26 in Kiran, where black berets used brute force against participants of a protest, resulting in five citizens being hospitalized with various injuries. This was stated by lawyer Arsen Babayan in a conversation with journalists.

Earlier, it was reported that representatives of the investigative bodies were removing cameras in Kiran. According to Babayan, the law enforcement agencies had received a report from the hospital regarding the injured, and criminal proceedings had been initiated on that basis, during which the investigator deemed it necessary to seize the camera recordings.

When asked why the cameras were seized instead of just the storage device, Babayan relayed the explanation from the law enforcement officials conducting the investigation: the fixed cameras do not have separate recording systems, and the recording is done on memory cards placed in the cameras.

“According to their explanation, there have been cases where the memory card has been removed incorrectly or it has become rusty, and it breaks,” he said.

In response to the question of why the cameras are being removed today if it relates to the events of April 26, Babayan replied, “I have various assumptions; for example, they might be removing the cameras to start a new action. However, considering my assertion that the cameras should be returned and installed as soon as possible, they agreed and promised to return them in about two hours. I hope that the investigation will not become involved in provocative actions.”
