The Ministry of Emergency Situations has released new details regarding the tragic bus accident involving an Iranian bus in the Syunik province.
It has been revealed that the 'Scania' bus, heading from the Republic of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran, left the roadway at the 26th kilometer of the Kapan-Goris highway and rolled approximately 40 meters into a nearby ravine. Two bodies have been found near the bus.
Rescuers have transported the driver and eight passengers (one of whom was extracted from under the bus) to emergency vehicles. The injured have been hospitalized, with two in serious condition and the others sustaining moderate injuries.
The rescuers have de-energized the bus and performed cooling operations, using lifts and hydraulic equipment to recover three bodies from under the bus and transfer them to vehicles for transporting the deceased.
Two cranes and one tracked vehicle have been involved in the operations. Work at the scene continues.
Earlier, it was reported that on April 27 at 17:27, the National Crisis Management Center received a call indicating that a bus had gone off the road and rolled into a ravine near the village of Verin Khotanan in Syunik province.
