Indian Foreign Ministry Responds to Azerbaijan's Criticism Over Arms Supply to Armenia

India maintains good relations with both Baku and Yerevan, but New Delhi is also interested in exporting defense industrial products. This was stated by Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a press briefing while addressing criticisms from Azerbaijan regarding India's arms supply to Armenia.

“We have very good relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia, but in addition to that, we are also implementing India's policy to promote defense industrial exports,” he said.

Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that his country cannot sit idly by while France, India, and Greece supply arms to Armenia. According to him, the listed countries are “doing this openly and demonstratively and even trying to prove something to Baku in this way.”

According to the Indian ANI agency, Armenia has purchased 15 Akash air defense systems from India for a total of $600 million.
