Possible Positive Developments if Ruben Vardanyan is Awarded the Peace Nobel Prize: Human Rights Defender
Human rights defender Siranush Sahakyan expressed her opinion during a conversation with journalists that if Ruben Vardanyan, the former Prime Minister of Artsakh currently unlawfully held in a Baku prison, is awarded the Peace Nobel Prize, it could increase the chances for his release.
It is noteworthy that several political and public figures had nominated Ruben Vardanyan for the 2024 Peace Nobel Prize in April. "Receiving the award could lead to human rights advocates and organizations joining the process of Vardanyan’s release, which would have a positive impact. However, Baku prioritizes political or group interests over universal values, thus it is hard to predict the actions of the Azerbaijani side," said Siranush Sahakyan.
