«Rubin is Facing a Completely Unjust Situation» – Noubar Afeyan

«Rubin is facing a completely unjust situation,» said American-Armenian businessman and co-founder of the Aurora humanitarian initiative, Noubar Afeyan, in a brief interview with the Armenian service of Voice of America.

Afeyan considers the illegal detention of Ruben Vardanyan, the former prime minister of the occupied Republic of Artsakh, in Baku to be unfair. According to him, in recent months they have been doing everything possible to secure Vardanyan's release, but there have not yet been tangible results.

During these months, Afeyan states that they have applied pressure in various forms and have called on international bodies and governments to demand the release of the political prisoners currently held in Azerbaijan. “Four senators in the U.S. have sent letters to both the president and the Department of State to compel Azerbaijan to release all prisoners,” Afeyan noted.

He emphasizes the importance of returning all prisoners held in Baku, but he adds that Ruben Vardanyan's case is somewhat different, as he went to Artsakh to engage in humanitarian work, to help the people, and to lead them towards a powerful future.

It is noteworthy that former Prime Minister Ruben Vardanyan, who is unlawfully detained in a Baku prison, has been allowed to make contact with his family members for the first time after declaring a hunger strike. This information has been announced by Vardanyan's family.
