Armenia and Georgia Agree to Resume Border Demarcation Works: Kostanyan
Armenia and Georgia have reached an agreement to resume the border demarcation works. This was stated by Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan in a conversation with journalists.
“The governments of both countries have agreed that the border demarcation works should be resumed, which had been on hold for quite some time. Both countries have updated their border demarcation commissions. A meeting has not yet taken place. Both sides are conducting some preparatory work,” noted Kostanyan.
He expressed hope that the first meeting would not be delayed.
In response to a question regarding reports suggesting that land from the Lori region might be ceded to Georgia, the Deputy Minister replied that a border demarcation process is to take place. According to him, the logic is to restore the borders existing with all neighboring countries at the time of the signing of the Alma-Ata Declaration in 1991.
