Sculpture of Sergei Parajanov Unveiled in Ukrainian Uzhhorod

Today in Uzhhorod, near the khachkar installed in 2015, a solemn ceremony was held to unveil a monument dedicated to the renowned Armenian filmmaker Sergei Parajanov on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary. This was reported by the Armenian Embassy in Ukraine.

It is noted that the commemoration ceremony was initiated by members of the Armenian community of Zakarpattia, including Karlen Shirinyan, Arsen Melkumyan, and Avetik Gasparyan.

Speeches were delivered by representatives such as Haik Torosyan, second secretary of the Armenian Embassy, Bishop Markos Hovhannessian of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Ukraine, Uzhhorod Deputy Mayor Ivan Zavidnyak, President of the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine Serhiy Bordenyuk, head of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine's staff David Mkrtchyan, city council member Arsen Melkumyan, Director of the Department of Culture of the Zakarpattia Regional Administration, People's Artist of Ukraine Yevhen Tyschuk, head of the local Armenian community Karen Yenokyan, and community member Avetik Gasparyan.
