Lars Closed to Trucks During Daytime Until April 19: What's the Reason?

Temporary restrictions will be in place on the road leading to the “Upper Lars” checkpoint from Georgia to Russia. This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
“Traffic will be closed to vehicles with trailers and semi-trailers during the daytime. The restriction is related to ongoing work on the Mleta-Kudauri section,” the department stated.
The restrictions will be in effect until April 19. Traffic will continue uninterrupted for other vehicles.
It should be noted that the Military Road is currently the only land route connecting Armenia with Russia. It is periodically closed due to bad weather conditions.
