Investigations Ongoing into Gunshots Heard in Yerevan
The spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, Gor Abrahamyan, stated on his Facebook page: “Considering that today the media have reported on an incident involving apparent gun violence that occurred on April 5 in the area adjacent to building 35 on Shiraz Street in Yerevan, and mentioned the names of individuals involved, I find it necessary to clarify the following.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated in the Shengavit investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under part 3 of Article 297 and part 1 of Article 335 of the RA Criminal Code. It was later established that one individual sought medical assistance for a ‘lacerated and punctured wound to the left shoulder region.’ A separate criminal case has also been initiated under part 1 of Article 44-155 and part 1 of Article 335, which has been joined with the aforementioned criminal case.
An investigative team has been formed. During the investigation at the scene, shell casings were discovered. Over ten individuals have been questioned. Forensic medical and forensic ballistic examinations have been appointed. The investigation is ongoing. Active investigative, procedural, and operational search measures are being taken to clarify the full circumstances of the incident and identify the individuals who fired the shots. The Investigative Committee will provide additional information on the data obtained during the investigation at a later time.”
