Macron Plays with Fire: Our Warnings are Ignored, Says Russian Foreign Ministry
French President Emmanuel Macron is playing with fire by initiating discussions on the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine. This was stated by Alexey Polishchuk, head of the second department for CIS countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry, in an interview with TASS.
“Such discussions cannot help but raise concerns. Politicians calling for military intervention in Ukraine are playing with fire,” the diplomat remarked while commenting on the French president's statements. According to him, many Western political figures are sacrificing their countries' national interests for political convenience and electoral gains.
“It seems they do not recognize the risks of escalation and the spread of the crisis. This is political infantilism. Our warnings about the consequences of continuing arms supplies to the Kyiv regime are being ignored,” Polishchuk emphasized.
Earlier, Macron announced that during a meeting in Paris with representatives from about 20 Western states, the topic of possibly sending ground forces to Ukraine was raised. He stated that the participants did not reach a consensus on this issue, but such a scenario cannot be ruled out in the future.
