Decision Made in Case of Disrespecting Ribbon Symbolizing Russian Federation Flag in Yerevan
The newspaper "Haykakan Zhamanak" reports: According to information received by the newspaper, the Investigative Committee of Armenia has completed the preliminary investigation into the case of a disrespectful incident regarding the memorial dedicated to children who died during the Siege of Leningrad, in Yerevan. As is known, on January 31 of this year, Vadim Feofilov, the head of the Russian House in Armenia, appealed to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Anna Vardanyan, to provide a legal assessment of the disrespectful incident concerning the memorial dedicated to the children who died during the Siege of Leningrad.
“Inciting interethnic hatred and calls for violence based on the events of the Second World War are unacceptable. Those responsible for the incident must be held accountable. And just a few days after this letter, law enforcement agencies identified the perpetrator. He is Samvel Shirinyan, born in 1978. According to ArmLur.am sources, he was found at the Bagratashen checkpoint, trying to flee the country.
Let us recall that on January 27, citizen Samvel Shirinyan demonstratively tore and trampled the ribbons symbolizing the Russian Federation flag, toppled the wreaths, accompanied by offensive comments directed at Russia, and posted the act on the TikTok social network.
