Zelensky: 'This is risky for us'

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, believes that foreign military personnel could train Ukrainian soldiers and assist in the repair of military equipment in Ukraine. This was reported by interfax.com.ua.

"I have publicly and in conversations defended several proposals from Emmanuel Macron. Training our guys here (in Ukraine). I think this is much faster than sending our guys, brigades abroad," Zelensky stated.

Zelensky is also in favor of establishing repair hubs for equipment in Ukraine, specifically underground facilities for repairing all Western equipment in certain regions.

He also sees no reason to decline the border mission. "He (Macron) proposed the initiative to be at the border; well, how can we refuse if they offer and come, we will only support it," he noted.

However, Zelensky is not prepared to invite combat units to Ukraine. "Today, I cannot publicly say: yes, world armies, come to Ukraine and fight, because Russia will raise hysteria in the world, they will start propagandizing to the societies of other states that you cannot send your children to fight, that this is not their war, it will start to divide European countries and NATO member states. This is risky for us, because if I come out with such an initiative, Russia will do everything to stop military assistance from other countries," Zelensky said.

At the same time, he reminded that "we have some volunteer formations when people from other backgrounds, with different citizenship, come and fight for Ukraine. Ukraine will not be against anyone wanting to help," he concluded.
