Zelensky Admits Ukraine Would Lose Without US Aid

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confessed in an interview with American CBS television that Ukraine would lose the conflict without assistance from the United States, as the country is almost out of artillery.

During the interview, excerpts of which were published on the channel's website, the correspondent asked Zelensky if he still stands by his comment made a month ago that without a new package of aid from Washington, Kyiv would be defeated. "That's true," the Ukrainian president replied. "Is it that simple?" the correspondent elaborated. "Ukraine will lose, but it’s not easy," Zelensky responded.

He noted that Ukraine has nearly run out of artillery. "Russia is taking full advantage of this [delay in American aid], not 50 percent but 100 percent. We have almost no artillery left," he added.

At the same time, Zelensky expressed the belief that the situation at the front could worsen for Kyiv as early as May-June. "Are you expecting a significant Russian offensive in May-June?" the correspondent asked. "I think so," he responded.
