Is Russia Planning to Block Telegram? Peskov Responds
There are currently no plans to block Telegram in Russia, but its founder Pavel Durov should pay more attention to the fact that the resource is also being used by terrorists. This was announced by Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov on the Telegram channel 'Shot.'
'No, there are no such plans at this moment,' said the Kremlin representative in response to a question about whether Russia intends to block Telegram.
'However, of course, we would expect Pavel Durov to pay more attention to the fact that this unique and phenomenal resource, which has developed effectively in front of our generation's eyes, is increasingly becoming a tool in the hands of terrorists and is being used for terrorist purposes,' noted Peskov.
It was previously reported that those who carried out a terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall were recruited through the Telegram channel 'The Voice of Khorasan,' which is closely linked to the Afghan branch of the Islamic State.
