Crocus Terrorists Recruited via Telegram Channel
Individuals involved in the terrorist act at the Crocus City Hall complex near Moscow were recruited through the Tajik TG channel 'Voice of Khorasan' affiliated with the Islamic State's Afghan branch. This was reported by a source from RIA Novosti, who added that the channel has already been deleted.
"Materials regarding a specific individual were reviewed. There is a report from our partners stating that he was behind the Telegram channel that gathered people to carry out terrorist acts. Additionally, during operational-investigative measures, it was revealed that those who committed the terrorist act at Crocus City Hall were recruited through the same Telegram channel," the agency's interlocutor said.
It has been reported that the mentioned Telegram channel is no longer accessible to users in Russia and Tajikistan.
Recall that on the evening of March 22, a group of armed men opened fire with automatic weapons at Moscow's Crocus City Hall, after which an explosion occurred, causing a fire. Reports indicate at least 143 fatalities.
The FSB of Russia announced that the terrorists who shot at people were arrested in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, near the border with Ukraine, and that they were heading towards Ukraine because they had "connections there." Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that a "window had been prepared for the suspects to cross the border with Ukraine." However, Ukrainian intelligence has declared that Russia's narrative suggesting that those responsible for the terror attack in Moscow were fleeing to Ukraine does not correspond to reality.
