Why Are Roads Built Poorly? Sanosyan Responds
The deficiencies in road construction are not solely the fault of the builders but also stem from the heavy loads of vehicles. This was stated by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan during the report on the implementation of the government's five-year program for 2023, responding to the question of why roads are built poorly.
The minister noted that poor construction often occurs without financial consequences. “If you pay close attention, you will see that when traveling from Yerevan, the left side has settled, while if coming from the opposite direction, the right side is affected. This indicates that I am not wishing to justify the builders, but it is logical that if the builder performs poorly, both sides suffer. Now, if the right side of that person's work is well preserved and the left side has deteriorated, it means that it is not solely the builder's fault, as heavy loads, especially from vehicles coming from Syunik, are a significant factor,” said Sanosyan.
According to the minister, this issue should be understood by supervisory partners with a weighing system.
