Two Detained Individuals in Nor Nork Division Charged with Terrorism
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has announced that on March 24, 2024, three individuals entered the Nor Nork division of the Yerevan Police Department, making threats and presenting demands in relation to an explosion incident. This activity led to a criminal case initiated by the main investigation department of the Investigative Committee concerning crimes against the state, constitutional order, and public safety, in close cooperation with the National Security Service and the Police of the Republic of Armenia. A number of significant circumstances regarding the incident have been uncovered during the investigation.
Based on the evidence gathered, the prosecuting authority has submitted motions to the supervising prosecutor to initiate public criminal prosecution against the three individuals involved—S.H., V.G., and A.M. The prosecutor approved these motions, and the three individuals have been charged with crimes stipulated under Article 308, Part 1 (terrorism) and Article 335, Part 2 (illegal circulation of weapons, significant components, military equipment, and other substances, devices, and objects in groups) of the RA Criminal Code.
Motivated requests have been made to the court to apply detention as a measure of restraint for S.H. and V.G., which were granted by the court's decision. A.M. continues to receive inpatient treatment at a medical facility, and the prosecuting authority has made a decision to arrest him.
