4 Times Taken to Psychiatric Hospital: What Neighbors Say About the Suspect in a Neighbor's Murder
In Yerevan, a 41-year-old man who murdered his 64-year-old neighbor reportedly had mental health issues, having been taken to psychiatric care four times before being brought back home. This was shared by residents of Khoren Khachatryan First Lane on March 25, according to NEWS.am.
One neighbor stated that the suspect was living with his parents, but months ago, when his health deteriorated, his behavior turned aggressive, leading his parents to leave him alone. For several months, Sargis M. had been living alone in the house.
“There was no tension or personal issues between neighbors; he was simply aggressive. He was taken to the psychiatric hospital several times; I don’t know why they didn’t keep him there and brought him back home. Any of us could have been the victims instead,” one resident explained, assuring that there had never been a dispute between the suspect, Sargis M., and the victims, Lilya G. and her daughter, Anna M.
Another resident reported hearing loud screams around 10 a.m. but was unsure if there had been a fight. Other residents who were not close to Sargis noted that he had always displayed peculiar behavior, which led them to avoid interaction with him.
It is worth mentioning that yesterday, on March 24, at approximately 10:30 a.m., operational information was received at the Mashtots division of the RA Police, indicating that two citizens had been stabbed in one of the houses on Khoren Khachatryan First Lane. Police and investigators determined that the injured were 64-year-old Lilya G. and her 33-year-old daughter, Anna M., who were transported to Armenia Medical Center, where Lilya G. died without regaining consciousness. Anna M. was reported to be in serious condition.
Later, the suspect, 41-year-old Sargis M., who was identified for the crime of “murder” and “attempted murder,” was neutralized at one of the restaurants in the Jrvaz district and taken to the Police's Mashtots division.
