‘Since this morning, the police operation is absolutely illegal, accompanied by a number of violations of fundamental freedoms and aimed at disrupting the right of individuals to hold peaceful gatherings. We have not seen such police behavior since April 2018, where potential participants of gatherings are taken from their homes (before going to the gathering).’ Daniel Ioannisyan, project coordinator of the Informed Citizens’ Union, wrote on Facebook.

‘Regardless of one’s attitude towards the ideas of gathering, such anti-democratic behavior from the authorities should be condemned and met with resistance.’
