What Charges Have Been Filed Against Narek Samsonyan: Lawyer Provides Details

Samsonyan has been transferred to Yerevan's investigative office. This was reported by lawyer Ruben Melikyan on his Facebook page.

“Samsonyan has been transferred to Yerevan's investigative office (Paruyr Sevak Street). He is being punished for saying ‘B.T.’ about Nikol during the ‘Imnemnim’ podcast,” he wrote.

Lawyer Ruben Melikyan stated in a live broadcast that a charge was just brought against Narek Samsonyan. According to him, the actual charge is for uttering insults.

“This is political persecution—the composition of serious insult, which had long been decriminalized, is being effectively restored by the Yerevan investigative department,” he said.

According to Melikyan, this is being done for a clear reason: to silence opposition voices.
