Taliban Reports Clashes at Pakistan Border
The Taliban movement, which controls Afghanistan, has reported clashes with Pakistani security forces that occurred in the eastern Afghan province of Paktika, according to EFE.
"Clashes took place this afternoon, lasting until 4:00 PM local time," said Mohammad Amin Huzaifa, a representative of Paktika province's authorities located near the Pakistan border.
The agency notes that Pakistan has not yet commented on the incident. The Taliban also reported that Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes on western Afghanistan the previous day, resulting in the deaths of at least eight civilians. Kabul condemned these strikes.
Islamabad had earlier stated that the Pakistani attack was not directed at the Taliban but targeted fighters from a banned extremist group operating in Pakistan.
