Nearly 2 Dozen Vehicles Blocked in Snow and Mud, Ministry of Emergency Situations Says

Today, the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received around two dozen calls regarding vehicles blocked in snow and mud in various regions of the republic. This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Narek Sargsyan.

According to him, vehicles have been blocked in the cities of Jermuk in Vayots Dzor Province, Hrazdan in Kotayk Province, and in the villages of Kanakerravan, Lernanist, Zovuni, as well as in the Syunik Province villages of Angeghakot and in the Gegharkunik Province village of Tzovazard. Additionally, blockages occurred 2 km on the Aparan-Yerevan highway, at the 11th km of the Vanadzor-Dilijan highway, in the Vardenyats pass, and in the bends near Stepanavan.

“Rescuers who responded to the emergency calls have removed about 20 vehicles from blockages and provided assistance to around 30 citizens,” he noted in a conversation with the media.

Due to weather conditions, the police are also operating in an emergency mode. Patrols are regulating traffic at intersections in the capital, while in the regions they are assisting citizens alongside rescue workers.

Efforts are ongoing.
