I Expect to Receive the Final Political Decision from Ministers: Borrell
The foreign ministers of the European Union countries are expected to reach a political agreement on March 18 regarding the use of income generated from the reinvestment of frozen Russian assets to assist Ukraine. This was stated by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, upon arriving at the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting, as reported by TASS.
"I expect to receive the final political decision from the ministers regarding the use of income generated from frozen Russian assets," the diplomat stated.
He expressed hope that a political decision on this issue will finally be adopted, to channel the income from Russian assets and increase funding opportunities for military assistance to Ukraine.
Last week, Russia's Ambassador to the U.S., Anatoly Antonov, stated that the G7 countries do not have a unified stance on the potential release of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine, as many understand the negative consequences of such actions.
