Macron to Propose Ceasefire Regime to Russia During Paris Olympics
French President Emmanuel Macron plans to propose a ceasefire regime to Russia during the Paris Olympics. He emphasized that France will act in accordance with the decisions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during the Games.
In an interview with Ukrainian media, Emmanuel Macron stated that the IOC has determined that Russia cannot participate in the Olympics as a state, but athletes can compete under a neutral flag. In response to a Ukrainian journalist, the French President said he should demand that Russia cease fire during the Olympic Games.
It is worth noting that the IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Paris Olympic Games in a neutral status last December. Six Russian and five Belarusian athletes have received authorization to participate. This decision does not apply to team competitions, and athletes who have supported military actions or are connected to the military are prohibited from competing. The Olympics will also ban the display of official symbols of Russia and Belarus.
