Major Explosion and Collapse at Kanakerravan Gas Station: Employee Thrown Several Meters, Condition Critical
Today, on March 16, a significant explosion and collapse occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 19:10, an explosion took place at the well-known Kanakerravan gas station in the administrative territory of Kanakerravan village while a Peugeot vehicle was being refueled.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan at the scene, the gas station employee was thrown approximately 10 meters from the blast. The emergency medical team from the Yeghvard hospital arrived promptly and transported the injured worker, diagnosed as critical, to the Armenia Medical Center.
A criminal investigation has been initiated by the Nairi Investigative Division regarding the incident. The police have taken the driver of the Peugeot to the Nairi police station.
The photojournalist reported that the explosion caused the collapse of walls, with several iron sheets being ripped off and thrown, landing on two vehicles. Additionally, several gas cylinders were also ejected.
The police and investigation unit are working to determine the identity of the injured employee.
