Murder in Gyumri Due to Dog Urinating Near Fountain: Details
On March 13, 2024, at 18:58, an emergency report was received from Gyumri, indicating that a group dispatched to Timirazev Street discovered a man's body with stab wounds. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee.
“An investigative-operational group immediately went to the scene and began necessary investigative and operational measures. A criminal case has been initiated at the Shirak regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 155, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code,” the statement noted.
Through conducted measures, significant circumstances of the incident were clarified, including the identity of the injured person, who is a resident of the same street born in 1963, as well as the motive and identity of the alleged perpetrator. The suspect is a 47-year-old neighbor of the victim.
During the pre-investigation, investigatory and procedural actions were carried out, including a scene examination, during which blood-like traces were found, the knife serving as the instrument of the crime was seized, video recordings from the available surveillance devices were collected and inspected, and various samples were taken. Medical examinations were assigned, and an operational directive was issued to the relevant unit of the Police to clarify the circumstances of interest to the investigation.
The investigation has revealed that the suspect and the victim had recently had strained relationships due to the victim's dog, which had consistently urinated near the fountain located in the neighbor's yard. On the day of the incident, when the 47-year-old man noticed the dog near the fountain again, an argument ensued between the neighbors, during which the victim inflicted physical injuries on the 47-year-old neighbor.
Following this, the neighbor took a knife from his home, went to the victim’s yard, and once again engaged in a dispute during which he stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.
As a result of the undertaken measures, the 47-year-old man suspected of committing the crime was located and arrested. He has been charged under Article 155, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code for the alleged crime. A motion has been filed to the court requesting the imposition of custody as a preventive measure.
During interrogation, he reported that he had sustained injuries from the victim during the argument preceding the incident. Investigative and evidentiary actions aimed at thoroughly and impartially clarifying all circumstances of the case are ongoing,” the statement concluded.
